The question in computer portability has become, “Does size really matter or is it more important to have an all powerful computer that allows you to fit all your productivity software and save as many data files as possible on your computer?” Another question may be whether the smaller sizes are more worthwhile or if the light-weight portability is the focal matter. I think the availability of different types of laptops today lets us truly personalize our business machines into something that works for us and doesn’t always have to be standard for the world.
The production release of the new macbookair by Apple has really given us a selection with the size and weight and what kind of laptop computer we lug around with us to work. At less than 3 pounds and wafer thin, we don’t have to strain our muscles every time we travel. It has a 13 inch display and a standard-size keyboard. Tell me where I can get it today! This is the very feature I have been needing.
When I first witnessed the youtube video for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to transport computer coming out of that little envelope, small envelope, I was just stunned. Now, that’s the solution I’ve been looking for. Now it doesn’t have to be a workout to take my portable computer with me any longer! No extra bag that can weigh nearly as much as the portable computer, no more heavy lifting, no longer taking up so much extra room! What a miracle!
The age old question of whether size is relevant is here now and my answer, when it comes to a small laptop is a reverberating, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter and so does weight. For me and my computer smaller is certainly better.
